Legendary to Present ‘Godzilla’ at Comic-Con 2013

From ScreenRant

Warner Bros. and Legendary are close to officially parting ways, but there are a couple of Legendary tentpoles still in the pipeline that WB will have to distribute in theaters next year (under their previous deal). That includes the Godzilla reboot – from indie filmmaker Gareth Edwards (Monsters) – and a fantasy-adventure based on “The Wardstone Chronicles” novels, titled The Seventh Son.

Legendary has plans to feature Godzilla and Seventh Son at the studio’s panel for the 2013 International Comic-Con later this month. The panel will be held in Hall H on Saturday, July 20th, following what Deadline calls a “a monster-themed event” that is scheduled to take place on the evening of July 16th, before the convention gets officially underway.

Edwards made a splash at the San Diego Comic-Con last year, when he presented a Godzilla concept trailer that certain members of our staff considered to be the highlight of the WB/Legendary panel for 2012 (even stacked up against impressive showings for Man of Steel, Pacific Rim and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey).

We should find out soon whether Edwards will make a return to the convention this year, or pass due to post-production on his upcoming blockbuster (see: Hobbit trilogy mastermind Peter Jackson and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 director Marc Webb). Meanwhile, Legendary head Thomas Tull could make an appearance, along with Godzilla cast members such as Aaron Johnson, Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen.
Legendary Pictures: Godzilla - An epic rebirth to Toho's iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world's most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. Gareth Edwards directs Godzilla, which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, and Juliette Binoche, with David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston. The screenplay is by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont, and Dave Callaham. Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing with Mary Parent and Brian Rogers. Alex Garcia and Patricia Whitcher are the executive producers, alongside Yoshimitsu Banno and Kenji Okuhira. The film is from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures.
